Musical Background:
Encouraged by his music school teacher Carlo started to play the guitar at the age of 12. Noticing this interest in music, his parents bought him a classical guitar and sent him for guitar lessons. After some years, the interest in metal bands such as Iron Maiden & Helloween influenced his style of playing and he started to practice on various guitar rhythm techniques. With the help of his parents, Carlo bought his first electric guitar (a Charvette by Jackson) and for him this was the start of his musical voyage which is still ongoing and maturing.

At a very young age, Carlo and his best friend Michael (present vocals of Lithomancy & Memento Nostri) formed their first thrash metal band under the name of ‘Euthanasia’ which was later renamed to ‘Lithomancy’. Carlo performed his first live with ‘Lithomancy’ at the ‘Rock for the Fort’ concert held at the Rinella Fortress in 1995. Another appearance of Carlo with the same band was at the ‘Lobotomy’ gig held at the White Rocks Complex in early 1996.

In mid 1996, Carlo decided to quit Lithomancy for various musical reasons and formed a 3 piece band called ‘Silent Stone’ with James Sciberras (vocals) and Jeffrey Galea (guitars/drum machine programmer). Drum patterns were created with a rhythm machine and all three worked hard to obtain an original style of metal which was influenced by Egyptian mythology. James had to quit ‘Silent Stone’ leaving no choices for Carlo and Jeffrey to concentrate on guitars without a vocalist. After 5 years of musical experience together, both Carlo and Jeffrey decided to invest in studio recording equipment so that they could record their own material. Although various tracks were recorded, an official album was never released. They both paused for a while and ‘Silent Stone’ went dormant. However, Carlo did not stop from practicing on his own and experimenting on other styles of metal.

During the time when Carlo had no commitments with a band, he informed himself well on the subject of audio recording. His enthusiasm in the art of audio recording and mixing grew and after years of practice, he was able to produce and engineer his own musical compositions at his own project studio (Northern Star Studio).

In 2001, Carlo met Mario at his place of work and decided to join up for some jamming sessions. They both joined forces with the intention to create a metal band, so that they could merge their musical experiences together. A few weeks later, Christa joined these jamming sessions on vocals. These were the early days of RISING SUNSET.

Yamaha active Bass guitar (model BBG4S II) and a Yamaha PSR 550 keyboards.
